Introducing Computer Engineer Barbie!

She has had over 125 different career changes that have span over five decades, but there is something special about Barbie’s 126th career move. Chip Chick Online (February 12th, 2010), reports that on Friday morning, Mattel Toys unveiled Barbie’s latest career choice, Computer Engineer. Lauren Dougherty, director of Barbie Marketing noted that Barbie’s new job was chosen by the public and that an overwhelming amount of votes poured in for the career choice of Computer Engineer.

Computer Engineer Barbie is more than just answering the public’s vote, the doll is designed to encourage young girls to aspire to have a career in engineering. As Nora Lin, President, Society of Women Engineers noted, “As a computer engineer, Barbie will show girls that women can turn their ideas into realities that have a direct and positive impact on people’s everyday lives in this exciting and rewarding career.”
